Boston University Women\u2019s Basketball (9-16, 3-11 PL) will take on the American Eagles Women\u2019s Basketball (1-24, 1-13 PL) in the Senior Day game for BU, kicking off their final home stretch of the season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

BU will honor their two seniors, guard Natalie Jasper and guard Alex Giannaros. The pregame festivities will begin around fifteen minutes before the scheduled tip-off, starting around 1:45 P.M. The Terriers also plan to honor team manager Vanessa Rosa. Senior Day comes on the eve of BU\u2019s penultimate home game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Jasper arrived in Boston last season for her junior season. She played for Georgetown her first two years after playing in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania before college. Giannaros is graduating after a historic college career, where she is set to finish in the top 10 in points (1,287) and points per game (12.0) as a Terrier. She is also set to finish in the top 5 of three pointers made (214) and three point percentage (41%). <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>The Terriers are guaranteed to play a first round game in the Patriot League tournament regardless of the result of their final two games of the season. With a win in their final two games, BU could earn a home game in that first round. The Terriers are currently tied in the eighth position and a game back of the seventh spot. American is locked into the 10th seed regardless of the outcome of their final couple games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

American is yet to win a road game this season. Their lone win of the season came against Lafayette at home. BU has not won a home game in nearly a month, with their last victory coming on January 27th against Holy Cross. It had been a struggle in general for the Terriers recently, but they were able to snap a four game losing streak in their last game against Loyola Maryland.<\/span>

\n<\/span>The game against Loyola Maryland was the best performance defensively the Terriers have put in all season. They allowed a season low of 38 points while forcing 17 turnovers.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>Historically for the Terriers, they have struggled against the Eagles. They are just 12-17, although they have won eight of the last 12 games against American, which includes six straight home games. This stretch dates back to 2020, so they are hopeful they can keep this going. BU was able to squeak out a victory back in January against the Eagles by a score of 70-67.<\/span><\/p>\n

American is led by freshman forward Cecilia Kay. Kay averages nearly a double double, with 11.3 points per game and 8.9 points per game. In conference play, Kay upped her numbers to 12.7 points per game and 10.9 rebounds per game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the Terriers, Giannaros leads them with an average of 13 points per game. Aside from her, they are hoping freshman forward Allison Schwertner can continue to contribute with her team high of 5.1 rebounds per game as well as 8.2 points per game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Terriers will face the Eagles on February. 22 at 2 P.M. with the game available to stream on ESPN+.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
