{"id":46144,"date":"2025-02-07T10:52:01","date_gmt":"2025-02-07T15:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/wtbu\/?p=46144"},"modified":"2025-02-07T10:52:02","modified_gmt":"2025-02-07T15:52:02","slug":"mens-basketball-brewsters-career-night-propels-bu-to-dominant-win-over-navy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/wtbu\/2025\/02\/07\/mens-basketball-brewsters-career-night-propels-bu-to-dominant-win-over-navy\/","title":{"rendered":"Men\u2019s Basketball: Brewster\u2019s Career Night Propels BU to Dominant Win Over Navy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Featured image by Matthew Wuschke<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>By Samantha Genzer<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boston University Men\u2019s Basketball (12-12, 6-5 PL) extended its home dominance with a commanding 87-65 victory over the Navy Midshipmen (8-16, 5-6 PL) at Case Gym on Feb. 5.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Terriers\u2019 win marks their eighth straight win on home court\u2014their longest streak since the 2010-11 championship season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was just really impressed with our mindset,\u201d BU Head Coach Joe Jones said. \u201cThese guys came out, and they attacked the game right away.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BU was led by graduate student and guard Miles Brewster, as he delivered a near-perfect shooting night. He torched the Midshipmen with a career-high 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and finished 10-for-11 from the field for a game-best 25 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brewster&#8217;s impressive performance was part of a strong night of shooting overall for the Terriers, who went 34-for-57 from the field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jones said the team has been refining its offensive approach since the start of the league, and their progress was evident in the dominant performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHopefully, we have moved past some of our issues that we were having on the road in the league,\u201d BU Head Coach Joe Jones said. \u201cWe&#8217;re going to be more of the team that&#8217;s a little bit closer to what we saw tonight.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helped by four 3-pointers, sophomore guard Michael McNair joined Brewster in double figures, scoring 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Every Terrier that played recorded at least six points, with junior forward Nico Nobili totaling nine points alongside a team-high seven rebounds and two steals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BU seized momentum early, breaking away with a 12-0 first-half run after Navy\u2019s Mike Woods trimmed the deficit to 13-11. McNair\u2019s three-pointer to open the second half pushed BU\u2019s lead to double digits, but Navy clawed back within five at 46-41.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 9-0 surge by BU, highlighted by a tough corner three from Brewster and a hook shot from junior guard Ben Roy, reestablished control at 65-49.
