That\u2019s the second slowest growth rate in the history of the US census &#8212; only 0.1% above the growth rate of the Great Depression of the 1930s. On top of that, throughout the pandemic, the birth rates in several U.S. states crashed. According to a recent analysis of nationwide local public health data by CBS, births in California were down 10% from normal, and, in Hawaii, births fell by 30%. This downward demographic trend is worldwide.
