The campaign is called F*ck It Won&#8217;t Cut It.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe saw a lot of people saying \u2018f*ck it\u2019 to the small things, you know?\u201d said Hannah Schweitzer, the project manager and strategist for the campaign. Schweitzer is a rising senior in BU\u2019s advertising program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd those small things really do lead towards big consequences, so that\u2019s where we get \u2018F*ck It Won\u2019t Cut It,\u2019\u201d Schweitzer said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign has accounts across social media. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CDsWzt9JY_T\/\">One post<\/a> gives a few tips for talking about COVID-19 prevention with roommates. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/stories\/highlights\/17946068566370192\/\">Another post<\/a> uses facts to bust the myth that young people don\u2019t have to worry about catching or spreading the virus.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CDsWzt9JY_T\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"12\" style=\"background: #FFF; Schweitzer said their group wanted to see strong messages made by and for students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSo, they were looking for something that they can see on social media and re-share on their stories, so they can tell their friends \u2018Hey, I\u2019m taking this seriously, can you take it seriously with me as well?\u2019\u201d Schweitzer said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the campaign isn\u2019t stopping at Instagram stories. Students are going to see F*ck It Won\u2019t Cut It posters and swag all across campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe started on social media because, obviously, we\u2019re not on campus yet, but this campaign is going to be everywhere,\u201d said Lindsey Rosenblatt, one of the copywriters for the campaign. \u201cWe want to bombard students with our message because this is a very serious matter, and it really relies on the success of this semester.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A team of eight students, both graduate and undergraduate, are behind the campaign. It\u2019s a collaboration between AdLab and PRLab, BU\u2019s student-run advertising and public relations agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BU is supporting the campaign financially, and the university owns the trademark for the name. But the messaging is completely student-driven, according to BU\u2019s Assistant Vice President for Public Relations, Rachel Lapal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students did have to get the campaign\u2019s name approved by the the Dean of Students Office, and a council that includes the provost and president of the university.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWell, we were very nervous to present this campaign because, obviously, we\u2019re cursing our heads off throughout the presentation, and there\u2019s a lot of sensitive topics that we discuss,\u201d Rosenblatt said. \u201cBut this was also asked of us. They wanted us to cover partying, sex, and drinking because these are kind of taboo subjects that Boston University wouldn\u2019t cover from an administrative approach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the presentation was over, Rosenblatt said there was a long pause.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was thinking to myself, like \u2018Oh, this is it,\u2019 like, we\u2019re not going to be able to do this,\u201d Rosenblatt said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, to her surprise, the administration loved the proposal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith these presentations, BU really trusted us,\u201d Schweitzer said. \u201cWe were saying things like, \u2018You know what, this is language we\u2019re hearing. This is what we\u2019re seeing. Here are the topics that we see Back2BU might not [be] covering that we think our campaign should cover.\u2019 And the higher-ups at BU were like \u2018You\u2019re right, because we want this to go well for our students, and what better way to know that than to listen to our students.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schweitzer hopes the campaign\u2019s name doesn\u2019t get in the way of its mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf someone doesn\u2019t agree with our language, that\u2019s OK, we understand.
