BI582, a 2-credit seminar on &#8220;Sex, Sexes, and Sexual Phenotypes,&#8221; brought gender &amp; sexuality studies perspectives to biology students through an examination of biological research (<a href=\"\/warkentinlab\/files\/2019\/10\/BI582-SexSexes\u2013Spring2018syllabus-WithReadings.pdf\">BI582\u2013Spring 2018 Syllabus<\/a>). The Task Force submitted our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/lgbtqiataskforce\/the-final-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Final Report<\/a> in May 2019. The Provost&#8217;s response in October 2019 describes the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/provost\/2019\/10\/31\/report-of-the-lgbtqia-task-force-and-next-steps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">next steps<\/a> BU will take to become a more inclusive institution. Warkentin&#8217;s further work as co-Initiative Owner for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/thecenter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty and Staff<\/a> in BU&#8217;s Strategic Implementation Group (2020) led to the opening of the Center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2017\/lgbt-issues-stem-diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Is science too straight?
