URBAN ARCH Looking to the Future<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As URBAN ARCH enters its 5th year, our investigators and staff have been busy preparing for the U01 and U24 grant renewals due in mid-January. We will expand our existing cohorts in Uganda, Russia, and Boston to pursue important new inquiries and opportunities in the area of HIV and alcohol research. The cores and U01 study teams have spent countless hours together discussing and refining their respective renewal ideas, and they are now drafting their applications for submission to NIAAA. Part of this process included a visit from Dr. Kendall Bryant, the CHAART Scientific Collaborator, on October 22-23 to present our ideas and discuss study design details. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Bryant arrived in the late afternoon of the 22nd to join a team meeting about cross-cohort ARCH women’s analyses. The morning of the 23rd began with meetings focused on the Russia ARCH and Uganda ARCH grant renewal ideas, and ended in the afternoon with discussions about the Admin Core, BDM Core, and Boston ARCH ideas. <\/span>Overall, these conversations with Dr. Bryant about the URBAN ARCH grant renewals were invaluable in regards to their scientific and methodological merit, and we have been actively incorporating his advice and input into our applications.<\/span><\/p>\n
