{"id":1289,"date":"2018-08-29T09:30:52","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T13:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/urban\/?p=1289"},"modified":"2025-12-10T10:18:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T15:18:35","slug":"welcome-2018-cohort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/urban\/2018\/08\/29\/welcome-2018-cohort\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome 2018 BU URBAN cohort!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We welcome the 2018 cohort\u00a0of NRT trainees\u00a0into the BU URBAN program!<\/p>\n<p>Our trainees come from 4 departments and are at various stages of their Ph.D.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Departments: 1 Biology, 6 Earth &amp; Environment, 6 Environmental Health, 1 Statistics<\/li>\n<li>PhD\u00a0stages: 5 Incoming, 4 first year, 3 second year, 1 third year, 1 fifth year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To learn more about our trainees and to keep up to date on what they have been up to, check out their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/urban\/trainees\">profiles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our first cohort begins the BU URBAN traineeship this fall and we start off with a bang. On September 5th we host our\u00a0Introductory Workshop, where trainees learn the mechanics of the program and take a trip to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/earth\/facilities\/boston-university-urban-laboratory\/\">BU Urban Laboratory.<\/a>\u00a0In our discussion we focus on why ambient urban and indoor\u00a0CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0concentrations are different that those measured in rural\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esrl.noaa.gov\/gmd\/ccgg\/trends\/\">Mauna Loa<\/a>,\u00a0Hawaii and how this knowledge can inform environmental policy decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Stay up to date with our program by following us on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/bu_urban\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0or check out\u00a0our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/urban\/news-and-events\">News and Events<\/a>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We welcome the 2018 cohort\u00a0of NRT trainees\u00a0into the BU URBAN program!
