{"id":242,"date":"2016-09-12T18:34:39","date_gmt":"2016-09-12T22:34:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/upa\/?p=242"},"modified":"2025-09-30T08:10:04","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T12:10:04","slug":"upa-walking-tour-to-freedom-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/upa\/2016\/09\/12\/upa-walking-tour-to-freedom-trail\/","title":{"rendered":"UPA Walking Tour to Freedom Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the morning of Saturday, September 10, 2016,\u00a030 students from the BU City Planning and Urban Affairs program and MET International\u00a0gathered for a fun, educational walking tour of Boston.\u00a0 Michael Schulte (MET\u201917), an Urban Planning Association Officer and Master of City Planning candidate, led the pack through Boston\u2019s historical downtown.\u00a0The Freedom Trail is almost three miles long, but tour guide Schulte walked through the \u201cheart\u201d of the route. He illustrated a wealth of historical and architectural stories, tying many of the landmarks back notable events and figures from the Revolutionary War to Urban Renewal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/upa\/files\/2016\/09\/DSC_0230-1024x681-636x423.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0230-1024x681\" width=\"636\" height=\"423\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-243\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/upa\/files\/2016\/09\/DSC_0230-1024x681-636x423.jpg 636w, https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/upa\/files\/2016\/09\/DSC_0230-1024x681.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The tour presented Boston\u2019s history in an engaging way, and it fostered further curiosity among the students.
