October 5th, 2017: EDS 2

On Thursday, October 5th, the UEA will be holding its second Economic Discussion Series event of the 2017 fall semester in KCB 106 at 7:00 PM.  This week, we’ll explain and discuss a recent paper by BU’s very own Professor Johannes Schmieder: “The Rise of Domestic Outsourcing and the Evolution of the German Wage Structure“.

The article has been very well received (it was published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics earlier this year), and it’s a must-read for anyone interested in research geared towards labor economics and the changing nature of the most powerful economy in the European Union.

Next week on October 12th, Professor Schmieder himself will give a special guest lecture before the UEA focusing on his research connected to this paper. The meeting this week will be a great opportunity to gain a good understanding of the basics of the article so we can make the most of Professor Schmieder’s presentation the following week.
