ALUMNI SHORT ENTRY

The Alumni Short Contest is a juried event with a screening and presentation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024.
With submission, it is understood that The Department of Film and Television will work with Disability and Access Services to support access and inclusion.  Such support may include, but not limited to, open captioning during ceremony screening and closed captioning available for online viewing.  Submitting your application and project does not guarantee that it will be selected.

In order to participate, alumni short movies must the following criteria:

  1. At least one stakeholder of the movie must be an alumni of Boston University.
  2. Runtime, including all credits, must not exceed 20 minutes.
  3. Submissions must be uploaded by March 1, 2024, Friday, 5pm (EST).

FT STUDENT ENTRY

The Redstone Film Festival is a juried event with a screening and presentation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024.
There will be a pre-screening of all entries by a  selection committee which will choose projects to be submitted to a panel of media professionals for judging.  With submission to The Redstone Film Festival, it is understood that The Department of Film and Television will work with Disability and Access Services to support access and inclusion.  Such support may include, but not limited to, open captioning during ceremony screening and closed captioning available for online viewing.  Submitting your application and project does not guarantee that it will be selected.

In order to participate, students must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Submissions must have been produced as required curriculum within one of the listed Film and Television production courses.
    Projects done as part of a directed study or done as an individual, extra-curricular project are not eligible.

  2. Runtime, including all credits, must not exceed 20 minutes.
  3. Submissions must be uploaded by February 2, 2024, Friday, 5pm (EST).
  4. Submission must include the College of Communication, Department of Film and Television end credit no smaller than one third screen width.  The official COM FT end credit may be downloaded from sites.bu.edu/TheRedstoneFilmFestival.
  5. Submission process and guidelines must be followed.  Failure to adhere to submission Deadline, Process, or Media Specifications may delay submission and disqualify  entry.  Once your submission is evaluated for technical specifications, a confirmation email will be sent within 5-7 days.  Questions may be forwarded to  TheRedstoneFilmFestival@bu.edu .
  6. The submission form must include production crew names and roles as assigned in group projects produced in FT402 Production 2, FT468 Production 3, and FT552 Social Purpose Short.  Awards for Best Picture 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be shared by the producer and director while specified awards for screenplay, cinematography, sound design, editing, production design, and actor will be awarded to individuals.  Award for Audience Choice should be shared.
  7. All projects must be free of copyright violations.  Submissions containing copyrighted material (music, lyrics, stock footage, adapted story, or script) must include a copy of the release from the copyright holder and submitted with the movie file and submission form.
  8. Students may enter more than one project per year, but no project may be submitted more than once. The work must have been completed within the past three years.
  9. If your entry is chosen, as a Finalist it is understood that you will be asked to provide the following.
    • brief filmography biography of producer and director
    • photo of producer and director for biography
    • 20-30 second  trailer (.mov, H264)
    • 10-20 production stills
    • 2 graphics to represent movie  (one with title, one without title)
    • movie poster
    • movie script
