Mekala Raman is a postdoctoral fellow in the Neurology group of the Framingham Heart Study. She investigates the interplay between Alzheimer’s disease and vascular disease by studying associations between circulating biomarkers, neuroimaging features, cardiovascular risk factors, and neuropathology. Mekala received her B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior at U.C. Davis and her Ph.D. in Neurobiology at Mayo Clinic’s Alzheimer’s Disease Imaging Research Laboratory. She is an advocate for women in science, having co-founded an organization for Women in Science and Engineering Research at Mayo Clinic and currently serving as a volunteer for the Massachusetts Chapter of the Association for Women in Science. Mekala is also part of the leadership team for the Boston University Postdoctoral Association and is an active member of the Boston Postdoctoral Association.
