Testimonials

“All of the things I’ve learned over the years [at the CST group] really show that this stuff works. If you give it your all, if you listen and really try the things you learn, you will see a huge change not just in the physical way that you stutter and speak, but you will also see a tremendous change in your mental outlook, overall happiness and in the way that you see yourself. You will gain the confidence that you have the ability to do and say all of the things that you want to.”Chris

The CST group is a valuable experience for anyone regardless of where they are on their stuttering journey. I’ve benefited from hearing different fluency techniques, perspectives toward stuttering and shared experiences among group members. The phone calls we do between sessions in particular help further establish a sense of community and each call never fails to allow me to find at least one thing I have in common with the other member I’m chatting with that week. Overall, the group helps me learn more about stuttering, further develop my positive outlook on stuttering and establish meaningful relationships.”Matthew

“The BU Stuttering Group was the first place I truly felt I was able to connect with fellow stutterers and begin to break down the self-stigmas I held about myself as a person who stutters. The community aspect of the group helps to bring a level of compassion that many people who stutter need. The shared experiences of those that stutter are validated and explored in this group, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. It has truly made a positive difference in my life.” Kyle

“As a person who stutters, I take advantage of the group therapy sessions at the BU Center for Stuttering Therapy as a ‘refresher’ for using my speech skills (techniques, targets). But it’s more than a therapy session, it’s a place where I meet my friends who stutter, mentor young members, advise grad students, and have the unique opportunity to help teach the world to listen.” – Leah

“Attending speech class at BU for the past couple of years, has really enhanced my communication skills. I’m more confident in my speech whenever I converse with people with the techniques I learned from class, and I always look forward to attending classes every semester.” – Anwuli
