The Center for Stuttering Therapy at Boston University
Where People Who Stutter…Talk!
The Center for Stuttering Therapy at Boston University offers services to individuals of all ages who stutter. We offer diagnostic evaluations, individual therapy sessions for all ages, parent support, and group therapy for teens and adults.
As an academic training center, our primary clinicians are graduate students training under the supervision of a Board Certified Fluency Specialist (certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders).
Many variables contribute to the development of stuttering and the challenges it presents to people from all walks of life – children and adults alike. The core philosophy of the CST centers around an integrated approach to stuttering therapy. We work with clients of all ages to to identify a mindset and skills for each individual that will increase their confidence as a communicator. Therapy supports clients in making individually-relevant changes in the areas of self-knowledge, self-management, self-assessment, and self-advocacy which aligns with client-stated values and encourages increased participation in life. The CST prioritizes confident and authentic communication, with a focus on forward flowing speech rather than fluent speech.
Our primary goal is to help individuals who stutter become effective and confident communicators.
