I am working on observing, reducing, and photometrically calibrating the spectra of M dwarfs, primarily using the IDL software SpexTool and relevant Python packages. Because of the cool temperature of M dwarfs, elements in their atmosphere are molecular, which creates extreme absorption lines in the spectra and causes difficulties when attempting to analyze their spectra. I am developing a novel approach to calibrating the spectra so they can be understood for analysis.
