{"id":33,"date":"2013-09-19T15:31:54","date_gmt":"2013-09-19T19:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/slone-drug-dictionary\/?page_id=33"},"modified":"2025-12-11T11:34:57","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T16:34:57","slug":"overview","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/slone-drug-dictionary\/overview\/","title":{"rendered":"Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The Slone Drug Dictionary currently contains over 32,000 codes for prescription and non-prescription drug products, dietary supplements (including herbal, natural and homeopathic products), and their active ingredients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Linkages within the dictionary database allow investigators to identify groups of exposures according to a specific component, product or group of products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The database utilizes a modified version of \u00a0the widely recognized <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahfsdruginformation.com\/ahfs-pharmacologic-therapeutic-classification\/\" title=\"AHFS Drug Information\">American Hospital Pharmacy Service Pharmacologic-Therapeutic<\/a> classification system to enable efficient identification of exposures of interest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The dictionary has been successfully integrated into a number of data collection instruments such as Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATIs), Computer Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPIs), web surveys and other survey software.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Users of the dictionary have collected drug exposure reports from a variety of study populations, driving the content of the dictionary and tailoring it to their needs. <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/slone-drug-dictionary\/selected-publications\/\" title=\"Selected Publications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">See a list of selected publications<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">The dictionary database is available for license by those requiring a reliable, flexible, and comprehensive method to collect and interpret drug information.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><sup>*<\/sup><i>AHFS<\/i>\u00a0Pharmacologic-Therapeutic Classification used with permission.
