Our program co-sponsor, <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/sisrenewal\/profiles\/tracy-schroeder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tracy Schroeder<\/a>, remarked on students having the freedom to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/students\/name-changes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">update their Display Name<\/a> in the BU Directory:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis change is a foundational step that enables LGBTQIA+ students to provide their lived or chosen accurate name, pronouns, and gender identity to be used in BU systems and services,\u201d Schroeder says. \u201cIn the near term, the impact of this is limited to the BU Directory display, which includes \u2018Display Name and Pronouns\u2019 only, and to a small number of other services, including the Terrier Card and Housing.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/about\/\">Information<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Services and Technology<\/a>\u00a0will be working with administrative offices across BU in the coming months and years to adopt use of this data across all BU systems.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>The article also communicates the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/sisrenewal\/files\/__restricted\/entire-bu-community\/SIS-Renewal-Program-Functionality-Roadmap-1-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">timing for future changes<\/a> the University can anticipate from the SIS Renewal program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Check out the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2022\/preferred-pronouns-and-gender-identities-in-updated-data-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> full article here!<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BU Today featured an article on our program!
