<\/a><\/p>\nIntroduction<\/h4>\n
This resource provides instructions for students on how to Drop or Swap classes. It includes explanations for how to swap:<\/p>\n
- \n
- a single component class, <\/li>\n
- the primary section (e.g., Lecture) of a multi-component class, and <\/li>\n
- a non-primary section (e.g., Lab, Discussion) of a multi-component class. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Swapping allows\u202ffor the\u202fdrop\u202fof\u202fone class and\u202fthe enrollment in\u202fanother class. The\u202foriginal\u202fclass will not be dropped if\u202fthe enrollment\u202fin the\u202fnew\u202fclass is not successful.\u202f <\/p>\n
These actions must be taken within the appropriate time period; for more information on important registration activity dates and times, please refer to the Registrar website<\/a>. <\/p>\n
For information on enrollment appointments or class permissions, please refer to your department\u2019s policies and communications. <\/p>\n
\u26a0\ufe0e Screen options and menus will vary by user; please note that displays may differ for you based on access that has been granted. All screens shown are for training purposes only.<\/p>\n
Drop<\/h4>
<\/p>\n- \n
- Navigate to Enrollment > Drop Classes<\/strong> in the MyBU Student Dashboard left menu. The Drop Classes page will open. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

- From the\u202fdrop down menu in the upper left corner, select the\u202fTerm<\/strong>\u202fcontaining\u202fthe desired class.\u202fThe classes enrolled for that Term will display.\u202f<\/li>\n
- Click the arrow on the class to see more details.\u202fClick\u202fthe 3 dots menu and select\u202fView Deadlines<\/strong>\u202fto see Academic Calendar Deadlines for the class. For more information, refer to the \u201cView Deadline Dates\u201d section below.

<\/a><\/li>\n- Select the checkbox for the class to drop, as shown above (multiple classes can be selected at once).\u202f <\/li>\n
- Click the\u202fDrop<\/strong>\u202fbutton at the top of the page.\u202f\u202f\n
TIP<\/strong>! This is the last step in processing the class drop. Clicking the Drop<\/strong> button will perform the drop action. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n
- A confirmation message will display indicating the class has been removed. Click OK<\/strong> to exit.

Swap Class\/Primary Section<\/h4>
<\/p>\nSwapping allows for the drop of one class and the enrollment in another class. The original class will not be dropped if the enrollment in the new class is not successful. <\/p>\n
To swap\u202fa single component class, or to swap only the primary\u202fcomponent\u202f(e.g., Lecture) of a multi-component\u202fclass: <\/p>\n
- \n
- Navigate to Enrollment > Swap Classes<\/strong> in the MyBU Student Dashboard left menu. The Swap Classes page will open. <\/li>\n
- From the drop down menu in the upper left, select the Term<\/strong> containing the desired class. The classes enrolled for that Term will display. <\/li>\n
- On the class to swap, click the Swap This Class<\/strong> button to open a menu of three swapping methods. Each swapping method is explained in a separate section below:\n
- \n
- With class from Search <\/li>\n
- With class from Shopping Cart<\/li>\n
- With class from Class Number <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

<\/a><\/li>\n- After completing one of the three swapping methods, the action is summarized on the Swap Confirmation<\/strong> page. It outlines the class being replaced with the new class chosen for enrollment. In the example illustrated below:\n

- SSWCP 757-A1 (15163) was originally enrolled in and is now being removed (dropped). <\/li>\n
- SSWCP 785-A1 (14221) is the new class being registered for, replacing the original. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- Click Confirm<\/strong>.

<\/a><\/li>\n- If successful, the Swap Classes page will return, and a confirmation message will display in the top right corner.

<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\u24d8 NOTE<\/strong>: Enrollment verification for the new class still occurs with this method. If the proper criteria aren\u2019t met for registration, it\u2019s possible an error will occur. One example may include reserve capacity requirements, as illustrated below:

<\/a><\/p>\nThe original class will not be dropped if the enrollment in the new class is not successful. For more examples of possible enrollment conflicts, please refer to the Enrollment Messages<\/a> resource.
\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\nSwap with Class from Search<\/h4>
<\/p>\nUpon selecting the With class from Search<\/strong> option from a Swap this Class button<\/strong> on the Swap page (as explained in \u201cSwap Class\/Primary Section\u201d above), the Class Search page will open. <\/p>\n

- Enter the criteria to search for desired class(es).\n
- \n
- For more details on using the Class Search function, please refer to the Preparing for Registration<\/a> and Class Search<\/a> resources. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Once the new class has been found, click the Swap<\/strong> button on that class.

Swap with Class from Shopping Cart<\/h4>
<\/p>\nUpon selecting the With class from Shopping Cart<\/strong> option from a Swap this Class button<\/strong> on the Swap page (as explained in \u201cSwap Class\/Primary Section\u201d above), a pop-up Swap from Shopping Cart window will open. <\/p>\n
- \n
- Click the Shopping Cart Class<\/strong> drop down to view all classes that have been previously added to the Shopping Cart.\n
- \n
- For more details on using and adding classes to the Shopping Cart, please refer to the Preparing for Registration<\/a> or Methods of Registration<\/a> resources. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Swap with Class from Class Number<\/h4>
<\/p>\nUpon selecting the With class from Class Number<\/strong> option from a Swap this Class<\/strong> button on the Swap page (as explained in \u201cSwap Class\/Primary Section\u201d above), a pop-up Swap by Class Number window will open. <\/p>\n

- Type the Class Number directly in the Class Number<\/strong> field.\n
- \n

- Click the Swap<\/strong> button.\n

- An Enrollment Options<\/strong> pop up window may appear. If desired, click the checkbox next to Wait list if class is full<\/strong>. Click Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Swap Section of Multi-Component Class<\/h4>
<\/p>\nFollow these steps if a non-primary section (e.g., Lab, Discussion) of a multi-component class needs to be swapped. <\/p>\n
- \n
- Navigate to Enrollment > Edit Enrollment<\/strong> in the MyBU Student Dashboard left menu. The Edit Enrollment page will open.<\/li>\n
- From the drop down menu in the upper left, select the Term<\/strong> containing the desired class. The classes enrolled for that Term will display.<\/li>\n
- Click the Edit<\/strong> button on the class containing the section to swap.

<\/a><\/li>\n- In the Edit Class Sections page, the class information will display with the associated sections to choose from; click the radio button next to the section to enroll into.<\/li>\n
- Click Continue<\/strong>.

<\/a>\n<\/li>\n- In the Confirm Changes window that pops up, review details of the discussion sections to be swapped. The window lists the Original Value<\/strong> information (the section with the original registration), and the New Value<\/strong> information (this is the new section being enrolled in). Click Continue<\/strong> to complete the swap process.

<\/a>\n<\/li>\n- The Edit Enrollment Results message will display, confirming a successful enrollment or listing any possible registration errors. <\/li>\n
- Click Ok<\/strong> to return to the Edit Enrollment page.

View Deadline Dates<\/h4>
<\/p>\nUse the Schedule page to view classes that have been enrolled and review the deadlines for activities such as dropping or withdrawing a class. <\/p>\n

- Navigate to the MyBU Student Dashboard and select Schedule<\/strong> from the left menu. <\/li>\n
- A Calendar view of the current class schedule will open. Click on a class to view its details. In the Class information display, click View Deadlines<\/strong>.

- If a List view is preferred, use the icons in the upper right to toggle between Calendar and List views:
