Class Search in MyBU Student allows for easy exploration of offered classes for a term. This page provides the most robust set of criteria to view and narrow down available classes. This resource will outline how to filter and search for classes, various actions available with the search results, and how to enroll in a course directly from Class Search once the appropriate enrollment period opens. <\/p>\n

CLASS SEARCH<\/h4>
<\/p>\nNAVIGATION<\/h5>\n

- Login to MyBU Student and access the Dashboard. <\/li>\n
- Navigate to Class Information<\/strong> and then Class Search<\/strong>. <\/li>\n
- The Class Search page will appear. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
SEARCH FILTERS<\/h5>\n
- \n
- Enter any relevant Filters to narrow down the list of classes:\n
- \n
- Term<\/strong> (required): select the appropriate term (e.g., Fall 2024).<\/li>\n
- School\/College<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to identify the School\/College.<\/li>\n
- Subject<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to indicate the specific area of instruction (e.g., CASBI \u2013 Biology, ENGEK \u2013 Engineering Core). Available options are impacted by the Career<\/strong> field selection.<\/li>\n
- Catalog Number<\/strong>: enter a number and subject code identifying a course (e.g., CASEN 141, CFAMU 632).<\/li>\n
- Keyword<\/strong>: enter a descriptor (e.g., literature).<\/li>\n
- Career<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to select the Career category (e.g., Undergraduate, Graduate, Law, Medicine, Dental).<\/li>\n
- Show Open Classes Only<\/strong>: check the box to only display classes that are not full.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Click the More Filters<\/strong> button to review additional filters to further narrow down the list of classes:\n

- Session<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to specify a session.<\/li>\n
- Days<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to select desired day(s) to include in the search.<\/li>\n
- Start & End Times<\/strong>: click the drop-down menus to select preferred class start or end times.<\/li>\n
- Location<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to select a campus location.<\/li>\n
- Instruction Mode<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to specify In-Person or Online methods.<\/li>\n
- Academic Organization<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to select an organization (department or School\/College).<\/li>\n
- Instructor Last Name<\/strong>: enter a faculty last name.<\/li>\n
- Instructor First Name<\/strong>: enter a faculty first name.<\/li>\n
- Class Number<\/strong>: enter a specific number identifying a class.<\/li>\n
- Course Attribute<\/strong>: click the drop-down menu to specify a type or category of course (e.g., Hub).<\/li>\n
- Course Attribute Value<\/strong>: enter specific value for the Course Attribute<\/strong> type identified. Options here are determined by the previous selection in the Course Attribute<\/strong> field.\n

- Click the plus icon<\/strong> to enter multiple values.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Units<\/strong>: enter the number of class units to search.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Click Search<\/strong> when ready to browse classes.\n
- \n
- Click Reset Filters<\/strong> to remove the criteria previously entered.\n

USING SEARCH RESULTS<\/h4>
<\/p>\n- \n
- After completing the steps in the Search Criteria Filters section above, a list of available classes will appear based on the filter criteria entered.\n
- \n
- Section, Instructor, Days, Start & End Times, Units, Enrollment Number Status, and Instruction Mode will display with each section of the class. <\/li>\n
- Status<\/strong>: the green \u201cO\u201d icon<\/strong> symbolizes that the class has available seats. It will also list the number of available seats left in the class out of the total allowable capacity. A gray \u201c!\u201d icon<\/strong> indicates an enrollment warning. Hover over the icon to see information that could impact the ability to enroll, as in the \u201cReserved Seats Info\u201d pop-up in the image below. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Click the drop-down on the Section Number<\/strong>, as shown in the image below, to view additional details:\n

- Information: Class Number, Career, Session, Units, Grading Basis, Full Description.<\/li>\n
- Details: Instructor, Start & End Dates, Meet Times, Instruction Mode, Room, Campus, Location, Components.\n

- \nContinue to the \u2018Add Course to Shopping Cart & Schedule Builder\u2019 and \u2018Enroll from Class Search\u2019 sections below for next steps in those actions. <\/li>\n
- View Deadlines<\/strong>: in addition to class details, the Academic Calendar Deadlines such as drop, cancel, and withdrawal dates will display.\n

<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\u24d8 NOTE:<\/strong> The current period in the academic calendar will determine which options are available in the three dots menu. For example, if registration is not yet open, Enroll will not appear. If the appropriate registration period has opened, then Enroll will display. <\/p>\n

ADD TO SHOPPING CART & SCHEDULE BUILDER<\/h5>\n

- Click the three dots<\/strong> for a menu of additional actions for a listed section that are available for the current period in the academic calendar. <\/li>\n
- Click Add to Cart<\/strong> to add the selected class to the Shopping Cart.\n
- \n
- In the top right corner of the page, a confirmation will appear if the class was successfully added. Also notice a red shopping cart icon will display next to the class section name.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
- Click Add to Schedule Builder<\/strong> to add the selected class to the Schedule Builder.\n

- In the top right corner of the page, a confirmation will appear if the class was successfully added. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\nENROLL FROM CLASS SEARCH<\/h4>

- Click the three dots<\/strong> for a menu of additional actions for a listed section. If the assigned enrollment period has opened, registration can occur directly from this menu by selecting Enroll<\/strong>.

<\/a>\n<\/li>\n- Validation checks will provide alert messages for any possible conflicts that need to be resolved (i.e., the class requires special permission, or the class registration limit has been reached for this term, illustrated in the examples below):

CONFIRMING ENROLLMENT WITH A SCHEDULE<\/h5>\n

- In the MyBU Student Dashboard, navigate to the menu and select Schedule<\/strong>. <\/li>\n
- A Calendar View of the current schedule will open.\n
- \n
- Choose preferred Time Period<\/strong> view: Month, Week, or Day.<\/li>\n
- Click directly on a class to see more details.<\/li>\n
- Choose to display enrolled classes, waitlisted classes, or both by selecting\/deselecting checkboxes.<\/li>\n
- Click Download<\/strong> to save a digital file.<\/li>\n
- Click the printer icon<\/strong> to Print the schedule.<\/li>\n
