  1. <\/span><\/strong>The WISHES Program is pleased to offer a *free* 2-day Training of Trainers on the\u00a0<\/span>Rights, Respect, Responsibility\u00a0curriculum from Advocates for Youth\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/span>June 7-8th 2018<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Master trainers Nora Gelperin and Elizabeth Schroeder from Advocates for Youth are coming to MA to introduce the first-ever free, online K-12 sexuality education curriculum fully mapped to the National Sexuality Education Standards called\u00a0Rights, Respect, Responsibility\u00a0(3Rs) at a two-day TOT held\u00a0<\/span>on Thursday<\/span><\/span>, June 7th<\/sup>\u00a0and Friday, June 8th<\/sup>\u00a0from 8:30-4:00pm at Health Care for All at 1 Federal St. in Boston, MA. This TOT is intended to increase the number of\u00a0<\/span>trainers<\/em>available to onboard additional health educators in MA, so trainers and capacity builders (rather than educators or agency staff who do not serve in this role), are highly encouraged to attend. This TOT designed specifically to meet Massachusetts\u2019 needs will have a unique focus on training teachers on issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity and highlight the rationale and strategies for creating an inclusive K-12 curriculum.<\/p>\n

    Registration is limited to the first 30 confirmed participants who complete\u00a0online registration<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span>May 1<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and demonstrate their plan to conduct future 3Rs trainings in MA school districts. (see attached<\/em>).<\/p>\n

    1. <\/span><\/strong>The Department is co-hosting a conference on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments to support family engagement through best practices in SEL and PBIS\u00a0<\/span>\u2022<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>March 23rd<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>2018:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The Department, in collaboration with the Department of Early Education and Care, the Collaborative for Educational Services, and Massachusetts Advocates for Children’s Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative, will host a gathering on\u00a0<\/span>March 23<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in Worcester on creating safe and supportive learning environments in schools, districts, and community-based programs in order to be equitable and inclusive of all students. The conference will help participants understand the Safe and Supportive Schools Framework as set out in\u00a0<\/span>state law<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and will focus on aligning important aspects of social emotional learning, trauma sensitivity, and positive behavioral approaches.\u00a0Participants will have the opportunity to learn with and from grade-span colleagues. The planning team is currently seeking breakout session leaders related to the aforementioned topics.
