SLHS PhD student Hilary Miller awarded Acoustical Society of America scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences doctoral candidate\u00a0<\/span>Hilary<\/span>\u00a0Miller was awarded one of two\u00a0<\/span>Raymond H. Stetson Scholarships in Phonetics and Speech Science<\/a>\u00a0from the\u00a0<\/span>Acoustical Society of America<\/a>\u00a0(ASA). Honoring the memory of pioneer phonetics and speech science investigator Professor Raymond H. Stetson, the scholarship facilitates research efforts of promising graduate students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Miller\u2019s research interests focus on applying neurocomputational models and neuroimaging methods to understand the neural bases of motor speech disorders. She currently studies neural control of speech in the\u00a0<\/span>Speech Neuroscience Lab<\/a>\u00a0with her academic mentor Professor\u00a0<\/span>Frank Guenther.<\/a><\/p>\n

Publication: “Dosage Frequency Effects on Treatment Outcomes Following Self-managed Digital Therapy: Retrospective Cohort Study”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This study<\/a>, published by the Journal of Medial Internet Research<\/em>, conducted by a BU research team led by Sargent’s Dr. Swathi Kiran<\/a>, analyzed data from the Constant Therapy<\/a> app’s mobile speech, language and cognitive therapy program.<\/p>\n

Findings determined the optimal dosage frequency of self-managed digital cognitive and speech therapy, and demonstrated that increased dosage frequency is associated with better therapy outcomes.<\/p>\n
