Benjamin Siegel
Here’s what it looks like trying to see a book about India and a few other places from around 7000 miles away. On the desk, Kathleen Frydl’s Drug Wars in America and Heidi Tinsman’s Buying into the Regime; on the desktop a lot of notes collected, and some writing on poppy politics in the late 1950s. Somewhere on the shelf are ten little clay figurines of India’s nationalist heroes; to left is some Thai basil from the garden in lieu of a bouquet. There’s a book to be seen in here somewhere.
