My family emigrated from Odessa, then a part of the Brezhnev-era Soviet Union, to Brighton Beach, a famous Russian neighborhood in southern Brooklyn, in 1975. When I was growing up, food was always a big part of my life because it was a part of the connection I had with my grandma and because it was simply delicious. Chicken cutlets were always my favorite. Consequentially, I have wondered about my grandma&#8217;s relationship with food and also where she picked up her delicious recipes.
