Inclusion and Outreach

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming research environment in our laboratory, university, and broader communities. Diversity of backgrounds and experiences enriches research and innovation, and provides a balance of inputs to avoid unintended biases in the technology people develop. Engineers and computer scientists are building the future, and we must work together to build an equitable, inclusive, and welcoming future for everyone.

Selected Outreach Activities

Computer Science Education Weekend 2025: We are excited to participate in the Boston Museum of Science Computer Science Education Weekend event, “observed each year in recognition of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper.” Our lab has designed an interactive robotics activity for a K-12 audience, where a robot will generate artwork based on visual instructions from participants.

UR2PhD 2023: We are proud to have been a part of Boston University’s Institutional Partnership in 2023 with the CRA’s UR2PhD National Virtual Computing Research Mentor Program, with 5 BU undergraduate students doing research in the lab. The mission of the program is to “expand the number of research opportunities for women and gender-marginalized undergraduates, including those from marginalized races and ethnicities.”
