{"id":5,"date":"2020-10-26T17:26:33","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T21:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/projectteams\/project-linc\/"},"modified":"2023-08-21T13:08:06","modified_gmt":"2023-08-21T17:08:06","slug":"project-linc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/projectteams\/","title":{"rendered":"Project TEAMS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The University of California, Santa Barbara and Boston University is currently training a special cohort of <u>doctoral students<\/u> in Special Education &amp; School Psychology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project TEAMS<\/strong>: Collaboration to <strong>T<\/strong>rain Special <strong>E<\/strong>ducation and School Psychology Scholars to <strong>A<\/strong>dvance Equity in the Study of <strong>M<\/strong>ental Health among <strong>S<\/strong>tudents<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> The purpose of Project TEAMS is to co-prepare diverse PhD students in Special Education and School Psychology with deep inter-disciplinary knowledge of how to identify, support, and advance equity in student mental health and wellbeing in schools. Project TEAMS scholars will be prepared to be research leaders in the fields of Special Education and School Psychology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Cohort: <\/strong>Doctoral scholars are PhD students at either University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB &#8211; 3 in Special Education, 3 in School Psychology) or Boston University (BU &#8211; 3 in Special Education). In addition to the regular doctoral programs offered by these two universities, Project TEAMS scholars are part of a <strong><u>special cohort of scholars<\/u><\/strong> with additional training opportunities across the two universities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Project TEAMS scholars <\/span><b>develop expertise in<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">assessment and evidence-based intervention related to identifying youth mental health needs and supporting students with identified emotional and behavioral disorders (EBDs).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">complex ecological systems serving students with disabilities (SWDs), particularly culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse youth with disabilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">producing new research related to addressing the mental health needs of students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the interaction of school, family, and community mental health service systems engaged in supporting student mental health.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">preparing diverse general and special education teachers and school psychologists to collaborate on interdisciplinary teams for equity and inclusion of culturally, linguistically, and racially minoritized students with disabilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Project TEAMS Scholar Activities:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proseminars featuring leading scholars<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Collaborative research projects across UCSB and BU<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biannual meetings between BU and UCSB<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internships in organizations serving students with EBDs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An in-person trip to each university to meet faculty and tour local schools<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An optional scholar-exchange program where scholars can apply to spend up to 3 months at the partner university and collaborate with faculty and peers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Project TEAMS Scholar Fellowship Funding:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully paid tuition and all mandatory university fees (for the 4-year duration of Project TEAMS)<\/li>\n<li>Fully paid University health insurance<\/li>\n<li>A monthly stipend<\/li>\n<li>A new computer<\/li>\n<li>Financial support for additional travel, internship costs, and other Project TEAMS expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Want to learn more about Project TEAMS?
