{"id":5,"date":"2020-10-26T17:26:33","date_gmt":"2020-10-26T21:26:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/projectinstep\/project-linc\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T13:20:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T18:20:14","slug":"project-linc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/projectinstep\/","title":{"rendered":"Project InSTEP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Boston University Wheelock College of Education &amp; Human Development is training a special cohort of <u>master&#8217;s students<\/u> in Special Education &amp; School Counseling.<\/strong><span>\u00a0<strong>This is an opportunity for joint training between the two programs with integrated coursework<\/strong><\/span><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project InSTEP<\/strong>: <strong>In<\/strong>tensive <strong>S<\/strong>upport <strong>T<\/strong>raining for <strong>E<\/strong>ducators and <strong>P<\/strong>ractitioners<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> The core objectives of Project InSTEP are to co-prepare scholars who are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Ready to provide holistic social, emotional, and behavioral supports to all students with disabilities and particularly those with high-intensity needs<\/li>\n<li>Prepared to use evidence-based supports in working with students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs,<\/li>\n<li>Equipped to support transition and career readiness for students with high-intensity needs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Special Cohort: <\/strong>In addition to the regular master&#8217;s programs offered by Boston University, Project InSTEP scholars are part of a <u>special cohort of scholars<\/u> with additional training opportunities. Project InSTEP is designed to provide scholars in the Special Education and School Counseling programs with interdisciplinary shared learning experiences that include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shared coursework<\/li>\n<li>Partnership between programs<\/li>\n<li>Speaker series<\/li>\n<li>Counseling strategies training<\/li>\n<li>Case conference<\/li>\n<li>Networking conference with the Boston School-Based Behavioral Health Collaborative<\/li>\n<li>Co-placement opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Funding: <\/strong>InSTEP scholars will receive stipends at a minimum of $30,000 per scholar, which can be used for tuition, living expenses, and\/or training costs. These are designed to offset the need to take on additional work while enrolled.
