We are proud to introduce the BUSPH Initiative for PROGRESS (PROmoting Gynecologic, Reproductive & perinatal research Engagement through Science and Scholarship)!
We envision that PROGRESS will assemble a diverse and interdisciplinary community of BU scholars who, together with key stakeholders and strategic partners, will improve the reĀsearch base to address continued threats to gynecologic, reproductive, and perinatal health.
Specifically, the PROGRESS initiative strives to foster a future in which:
- Community leaders and members of the public understand that continued cutting edge research on PROGRESS outcomes can improve population health and well-being.
- The most vulnerable communities and individuals are protected and empowered, thereby reducing existing health inequities.
- A diverse cadre of scholars, leaders, activists, and policy-makers have the training, skills, knowledge, and tools needed to build healthy PROGRESS-related communities
- Timely, reliable, and actionable information, tools, and expertise are readily accessible to strategic partners and key stakeholders nationally and internationally.
- Greater advocacy on reducing disparities in adverse PROGRESS outcomes via direct engagement with advocacy groups, such as the RESOLVE, the White Dress Project, and Sister Song is encouraged.
The initiative will provide the BUSPH community a platform that encourages and administratively supports new efforts in this space; helps teams be more competitive for grant funding through non-traditional and traditional sources; facilitates development of new relationships with other reĀsearchers and key stakeholders; and promotes translation of research into real public health action through engagement, training, and communication.
