{"id":5,"date":"2016-01-15T13:22:01","date_gmt":"2016-01-15T17:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/pghs\/program-for-global-health-storytelling\/"},"modified":"2017-10-19T17:48:01","modified_gmt":"2017-10-19T21:48:01","slug":"program-for-global-health-storytelling","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/pghs\/","title":{"rendered":"Program for Global Health Storytelling"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Who We Are<\/h2>\n<p>The Boston University Program for Global Health Storytelling (formerly the Program on Crisis Response and Reporting) is a bold, multi-disciplinary initiative that seeks to explore the intersection between public health and journalism when confronting complex health challenges and the global response.<\/p>\n<p>Our objective is to examine the separate, but sometimes overlapping missions of\u00a0journalism and public health, and to investigate the connection between data collection, reporting and the delivery of health and humanitarian services. Our goal is to use narrative to understand how these disciplines impact individuals and larger populations.<\/p>\n<p>The Program for Global Health Storytelling is founded on the principle of \u201cone BU\u201d in that we draw on the expertise of scholars and practitioners from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/com\/\">College of Communication (COM)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/sph.bu.edu\/\">School of Public Health (SPH)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cghd\/\">Center for Global Health &amp; Development (CGHD).<\/a> We also have a partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/pulitzercenter.org\/campus-consortium\/boston-university\">Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting<\/a> in Washington, D.C., an independent news organization dedicated to promoting high-quality international journalism on complex topics. This four-way collaboration has three primary objectives:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ol>\n<li>An <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/pghs\/annual-conference\/\">annual conference<\/a> on global health and journalism<\/li>\n<li>Two <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/pghs\/student-fellowships\/\">student fellowships<\/a> for global health storytelling<\/li>\n<li>Participation in the <a href=\"http:\/\/pulitzercenter.org\/campus-consortium\/boston-university\">Pulitzer Center\u2019s Campus Consortium<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who We Are The Boston University Program for Global Health Storytelling (formerly the Program on Crisis Response and Reporting) is a bold, multi-disciplinary initiative that seeks to explore the intersection between public health and journalism when confronting complex health challenges and the global response.
