Bio:

Since ASI Japan, I have graduated with an MS in Earth System Science from UAH. I currently work as a GIS Technician with TN State Parks. Most of my work consists of maintaining and contributing to the over 100+ cartographic products that my team manages for state parks. I also help manage our statewide geospatial datasets and create web applications for internal use. Moreover, I help provide virtual and in-person GIS trainings to park staff. In terms of education, I hold an A.S. in General Studies from Brightpoint Community College, a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia, and an M.S. in Earth System Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Main lessons/takeaways from the ASI fellowship:

“I learned the importance of disaster preparedness and how a quick response from the community can help to mitigate lasting impacts of disasters. I also think the widening of my worldview from visiting a different country and being submerged in another culture for a time has been personally impactful.”
