Graduate Degree: Ph.D.

Bio:

I am working to become a quantitative marine ecologist and am a self-appointed Software Engineering Marine Ecologist. I began my Ph.D. studies in September 2024 at Boston University in the Biology Department. After finishing my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2020, I worked for four years in the tech industry as a software engineer. I am now working for a lab that focuses on modeling coral reef ecosystems. My academic and professional goals are to merge the worlds of coding, diving, and coral research together to study and (hopefully) develop solutions to the problems plaguing coral reefs.

Main lessons/takeaways from the ASI fellowship:

“This fellowship was eye opening for me in terms all of the different aspects that go into a coast line and what can be considered a coastal hazard. Before this fellowship, I mainly thought about the hazards that occur underwater, but through this program I got the whole picture. It was very cool to see how it’s all connected! It was amazing to learn not only from my peers but everyone in Indonesia as well”
