Bio:

I am a 3rd year PhD candidate at Washington University in St. Louis in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences working with Dr. Roger Michaelides. My research focuses on using various remote sensing modalities (SAR, InSAR, LiDAR, and laser altimetry) to study the spatiotemporal trends and variability of permafrost processes as they relate to Arctic coastal erosion, land subsidence, and infrastructure damage. I am especially interested in leveraging the strengths of different remote sensing sensors to develop user-friendly open-source workflows and data products that may aid in local community resilience and policy decision-making surrounding Arctic climate adaptation.

Main lessons/takeaways from the ASI fellowship:

“The main things I gained from the ASI program were a greater awareness of the vast variety of coastal hazards research there are in the earth sciences, access to tools and software to help study these processes, and a larger appreciation for the research, engineering, and policy that goes into living in areas near the coast that are prone to experiencing natural hazards”
