This was a tipping point in the LGBTQI+ rights movement, of which activist <a href=\"https:\/\/ucnj.org\/mpj\/about-marsha-p-johnson\/\">Marsha P. Johnson<\/a> was a prominent figure.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/missmajor.net\/\">Miss Major Griffin-Gracy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/storme-delarverie-suiting\"><span>Storm\u00e9 DeLarverie<\/span><\/a> were also instrumental figures in the Stonewall Uprising and the subsequent movement for gay rights in America. After the Stonewall Uprising, Marsha P. Johnson and fellow activist <span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshistory.org\/education-resources\/biographies\/sylvia-rivera\">Sylvia Rivera<\/a> co-founded <\/span><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.outfrontmagazine.com\/the-street-transvestite-action-revolutionaries-manifesto-50-years-later\/\">Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR)<\/a>, which was a radical, political activist group that also provided housing to homeless LGBTQI+ youth and sex workers. This organization was considered groundbreaking, and its formation is a critical moment in the fight for LGBTQI+ rights in America.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Pride Month Today:<\/h3>\n<p>Today, the Celebration of Pride is commemorated all around the world as a time for the LGBTQI+ community to come together and celebrate their freedom to be themselves. We also recognize that there is still work to be done in order to achieve equity for all. Pride Month is a time to reflect on how we can make the public health workforce a more inclusive space for the LGBTQI+ community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEPHTC is celebrating Pride Month!
