The\u00a0<\/span>Population Council<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>has announced that\u00a0<\/span>Mahesh Karra<\/a>, Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at Boston University\u2019s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and Associate Director of the Human Capital Initiative at the School\u2019s\u00a0Global Development Policy Center<\/a>\u00a0(GDP Center), will serve as an editor of its\u00a0Studies in Family Planning (SFP)<\/em><\/a>\u00a0research journal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SFP<\/span><\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>publishes\u00a0<\/span>public health<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>social science<\/a>, and biomedical research with a primary focus on low- and middle-income countries.\u00a0<\/span>The journal accepts submissions in sexual and reproductive health, fertility, family planning, HIV\/AIDS, abortion, maternal\/child health, and related topics.\u00a0<\/span>For almost sixty years, peer-reviewed research in the journal has played a pivotal role in shaping the field and building the evidence base for improving policy and practice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Karra is one of three new editors selected by the Population Council. He joins Victoria Boydell, Lecturer in Global Public Health in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Essex, and Francis Obare, an Associate at the Population Council. \u201cVicky, Mahesh, and Frances were selected from a diverse pool of applicants for their intellect, enthusiasm, and compelling points of view on\u00a0<\/span>Studies<\/em>\u2019 present and future,\u201d said Thoai Ng\u00f4, Vice President of Social and Behavioral Science Research at the Population Council, in an\u00a0official announcement<\/a>. \u201cTheir appointments mark the first time a Council journal has had three editors, and we are excited to see them take the helm.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
