BU MSE students are encouraged to register by the early bird deadline and submit their badge and registration receipt for reimbursement using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/academics\/departments-and-divisions\/materials-science-engineering\/resources\/division-business-and-travel-expense-report\/\">Division Business and Travel Expense Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>ASM International &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asminternational.org\/\">American Society of Materials<\/a> <img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/msegsa\/files\/2023\/07\/American_Society_for_Metals_ASM_Logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-569\" \/><\/h4>\n<p>ASM events include the annual ASM Materials Experience, meetings, and panels.\u00a0 We are engaged with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asmboston.org\/\"><strong>ASM Boston chapter<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1933, ASM International has now over 36,000 members with a broad range of expertise in Materials Science and Engineering. The BU Chapter materialized in 2011 to help students advance their knowledge and careers in the field.<\/p>\n<h5>ASM mission:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Advancing careers and knowledge in materials science through networking and collaboration with leaders in the field<\/li>\n<li>Increase Awareness of cutting-edge technology<\/li>\n<li>Explore Industry Exposure<\/li>\n<li>Help its Members to Achieve Advanced Careers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>To join ASM please follow these steps:<\/h5>\n<p>By going through this process you become a \u201cMaterial Advantage\u201d student member, which includes membership to ASM International, The American Ceramic Society (ACerS), The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS), and the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log on to the <a href=\"http:\/\/materialadvantage.org\/\">Material Advantage program page<\/a>, and select \u201cNew User\u201d, then proceed by entering your information and following the steps to create your TMS account.<\/li>\n<li>Once your TMS account is created, use the \u201cClick Here\u201d link to apply for membership. Select \u201cMaterial Advantage Student\u201d, then click next. Enter your education background then proceed to the payment screen. \u201cMaterial Advantage Student\u201d should be highlighted at a reduced rate.
