Her work has appeared in publications such as&nbsp;<em>Nature, The New York Times,&nbsp;The&nbsp;NewYorker.com,<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/orionmagazine.org\/contributor\/meera-subramanian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Orion<\/em><\/a>, where she is a contributing editor. She is author of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/meerasub.org\/book\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>A River Runs Again: India\u2019s Natural World in Crisis<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;(PublicAffairs 2015), which&nbsp;was short-listed for the Orion Book Award.&nbsp;She also&nbsp;teaches creative nonfiction at the Sewanee School of Letters MFA program in Tennessee. As a National Geographic Explorer and recipient of multiple grants, fellowships, and residencies, she&nbsp;is in a constant state of exploration and wonder about the world around her.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">With MISI, Meera worked on gaining traction for&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/abetterworldthebook.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>A Better World Is Possible: Global Youth Confront the Climate Crisis<\/em><\/a>, a young adult (YA) nonfiction graphic novel she co-authored. The book tells the story of four real-life youth climate activists and makes climate history and challenges accessible through compelling visuals and engaging writing. She is actively seeking ways to integrate it into educational programs as a way of bringing climate information to new audiences and allowing kids to see themselves in the movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Our brains are hardwired very deeply to storytelling. It\u2019s how we make sense of our world, so if we want to convey the climate crisis, then we need to do it through storytelling.
