Without having an understanding of the benefits, people are not doing that intentional work of bringing Black youth into green spaces, and they are developing biophobia without realizing it.<\/p><cite><strong>&#8211; Bobbie D<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Bobbie D Norman is a&nbsp;research associate at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dataplussoul.com\/about?srsltid=AfmBOoro4jwdncOwh7HHTEFE7lzg406HbTtDmnOSl7H0VNRzWm0MAItc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data+Soul Research<\/a>, a Boston-based research and evaluation firm. In this role, her work includes&nbsp;climate-related movement&nbsp;building and transportation advocacy network mapping, spanning between both public health and environmentally focused projects.&nbsp;Growing up, Bobbie D noticed that she had a different relationship with \u201cthe environment\u201d than her white classmates, feeling discomfort and fear where they were comfortable. This alienation led her to explore reasons why and raise awareness about Black kids\u2019 nature experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With MISI, Bobbie D continued her research from her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.massaudubon.org\/about\/careers\/early-career-programs\/environmental-fellowship-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mass Audubon\u2019s Environmental Education and Engagement Fellowship<\/a>. Finding a disconnect between the local community and the Mass Audubon demographic, she began work to implement a new street sign for Mass Audubon.
