Barry graduated from Connecticut College in the spring of 1942, then married Jim Alter.\u00a0 She explains in this section why she and Jim chose to spend several years in Haydenburg, Tennessee, waiting for the end of WW II.\u00a0 Barry tells stories of her life with the \u201cHill People\u201d she and Jim ministered to at the parsonage in New Bethel in the Cumberland mountains, about fifteen miles from Knoxville.\u00a0 In addition to her summers in rural Maine, the years in Haydenburg prepared Barry for what would become her life in Northern India.<\/p>\n
