Our presenter,\u00a0<\/span>Dr.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Timothy Bickmore<\/span><\/b>,\u00a0is a Professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University in Boston, where his research focuses on the design and evaluation of embodied and socially interactive health technologies, including humanoid robots and virtual humans, that engage patients in health counseling and behavior change. His work\u00a0examines how\u00a0physical and virtual\u00a0embodiment, nonverbal communication, and relational behaviors, such as gaze,\u00a0gesture, and proxemics, shape patient experience, engagement, and therapeutic alliance in automated health interventions. His work has been supported by multiple NIH and NSF grants to develop and evaluate agents in automated health education and long-term health behavior change interventions.<\/span><\/p>\n
