Nutrigenetics & Genomics of Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Induced Metabolic Disease

Excess sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption is linked to disorders associated with lipid accumulation including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and insulin resistance. ChREBP is a key transcriptional regulator of glucose and lipid metabolism, and evidence links sugar-induced hepatic ChREBP activity to circulating FGF21 levels and cardiovascular risk. The proposed study will examine underlying mechanisms by which sugar consumption and genetic variants contribute to the increased prevalence of cardiometabolic disease.

Diet-Related Fibers & Human Health Outcomes Database

Brief Overview

The Diet-Related Fibers and Human Health Outcomes Database is a resource to assist health researchers and policy-makers in evaluating evidence linking fibers to specific physiological health outcomes in a quick and efficient manner. This project is funded by the Institute for the Advancement of Food and Nutrition Sciences (IAFNS) a non-profit organization that catalyzes science for the benefit of public health.
