“Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy\u00a0\u00a0and Posttraumatic Neurodegeneration: Neuropathology and Ex Vivo Imaging”

\nProject Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0The major goals of this cooperative agreement are to; 1) validate pathological criteria for the diagnosis of CTE,\u00a02) develop a National TBI brain bank, 3) determine the pathological correlates of ex vivo neuroimaging studies\u00a0in postmortem CTE brain.<\/p>\n

“Neuropathology Core of the Boston University Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Center”
\n<\/strong>Principal Investigator:\u00a0<\/strong>Dr. Neil Kowall

\nProject Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0The major goal of this project is to build a broad-based research program in Alzheimer\u2019s disease to better\u00a0understand the phenomenology and pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and to\u00a0facilitate treatment and prevention.<\/p>\n

“VA Merit Award”

\nProject Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0The study will look at axonal injury and tau pathology following blast mTBI in OEF\/OIF Veterans. The major goal of this project is to identify CSF and neuroimaging biomarkers to diagnose CTE.<\/p>\n

“Cyclohexanol Therapy in Transgenic Models of Alzheimer\u2019s Disease”

\nProject Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0The major goals of this project are to assess the metabolic, histopathological, biochemical and cognitive\u00a0profiles of double and triple transgenic Alzheimer mice treated with oral scyllo- or myo-inositol using MRS,\u00a0immunohistochemistry, western blot, ELISA and water maze testing and to assess the efficacy of\u00a0cyclohexanehexol\/R-flurbiprofen combination therapy compared to the efficacy of each compound\u00a0administered alone.<\/p>\n
