{"id":47,"date":"2025-02-24T12:11:43","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T17:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/matheducation\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=47"},"modified":"2026-03-03T08:00:02","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T13:00:02","slug":"eric-cordero-siy","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/matheducation\/profile\/eric-cordero-siy\/","title":{"rendered":"Eric Cordero-Siy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Eric Cordero-Siy (last syllable is pronounced \u201csea,\u201d like the body of water) is the associate dean for equity, diversity, and inclusion ad interim at Boston University Wheelock College of Education &amp; Human Development, where he is also a clinical assistant professor in the Mathematics Education program. His work supports elementary teachers in developing lessons that support mathematical sense-making, particularly with the use of drawings and other informal representations. To do this, he, along with other researchers and school partners, conducted job-embedded, adaptive professional development that focuses on in-the-moment decision making to experiment with teacher-driven practices.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside this, Dr. Cordero-Siy supports teachers in both professional development and his own teaching to enact equitable, justice-oriented mathematics teaching practices. He is also working on liberatory practices that confront power and oppression in ways educational research is conducted.
