Hi folks of Marsh Chapel, the Boston area, Boston University, and anyone else who stumbles across this webpage! My name is Eshita and I am a junior at Boston University majoring in Political Science and minoring in Deaf Studies. Feel free to visit my bio here<\/a> to learn a little bit more about experiences with religion and spirituality growing up, as well as what motivates me to be an interfaith fellow at Marsh Chapel.<\/p>\n

During this fellowship, something I’ve learned about myself is that I love to make authentic connections with people and facilitate some form of community healing. This is evident in my roles as a Student Ambassador at the Howard Thurman Center and a Social Media Content Creator for the Black, Indigenous, & People of Color Mental Health Collective. To me, interfaith work goes hand in hand with healing work; a group of people with a spectrum of beliefs surrounding religion and\/or spirituality come together to find commonalities and work towards a common goal of understanding each other and serving other people. Thus, came along my project: Instafaith, Infofaith, Interfaith.<\/p>\n

The purpose of this project is to increase Marsh Chapel’s social media presence and connect with a wider audience of students, Bostonians, & religious organizations and institutions. Some steps I have already taken include changing the Instagram bio to better capture the mission of Marsh Chapel and Boston University; following more Boston University students, organizations, and departments; following religious institutions from other schools; and creating interfaith content. I have already posted about former Marsh Chapel Dean Dr. Howard Thurman to honor his legacy and interfaith work during. Black History Month, as well as the Jewish holiday Purim. I plan to create more content about various religious holidays and theologians as the semester progresses.<\/p>\n

I also plan to collaborate with my fellow wonderful fellows \u2013 Anna<\/a>, Stella<\/a>, Aimee<\/a>, Simran<\/a>, & Xan<\/a> \u2013 to capture and amplify their projects on our Marsh Chapel social media pages.<\/p>\n
