{"id":2617,"date":"2024-08-12T09:03:04","date_gmt":"2024-08-12T13:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/marcom-team\/?page_id=2617"},"modified":"2025-09-16T12:42:04","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T16:42:04","slug":"static-site-directory-access","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/marcom-team\/departments\/interactive-design\/helpful-id-updates-links\/static-site-directory-access\/","title":{"rendered":"Static Site Directory Access"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Access to static directories can be granted in two ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If someone in this office already has access, they should be able to use the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/help\/web\/site-access\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manage Users<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tool to grant access.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, granting a user access to `\/newmedia` will automatically grant access to a variety of other ID-maintained sites.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/help\/tech\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">File a ticket<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with something along the wording lines of \u201cPlease grant __username__ AFS read AND write access to `\/__the_directory__` and `__the_directory__` to the `\/newmedia` access group.\u201d<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: the max-quota for new directories is something small like 50MB, so if you need to upload lots of data\u2014videos or many photos\u2014make sure to add a quote increase to ___MB in your ticket to IS&amp;T.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <code>newmedia-admin<\/code> access group in AFS will get users into most static sites that typically require ID folks to do some tweaks to non-WP content.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Access to static directories can be granted in two ways: If someone in this office already has access, they should be able to use the Manage Users tool to grant access.
