This portal includes a project&#8217;s information architecture, wireframes, and mockups for review and approval. Clients can access these materials anytime, streamlining the approval process and ensuring transparency throughout the project.<\/p>\n<p><code>webdev.bu.edu\/web\/w\/e\/webteam\/projects\/<\/code><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/webteam\/projects\/camed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"button-secondary\">Example Webteam Project<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>BU CDN<\/h2>\n<p>Our single-location setup that stores and delivers web logo assets, webfonts, and icons \u2014 offering an efficient content distribution, without needing to rely on licenses or global server outages.<\/p>\n<p><code>webdev.bu.edu\/web\/c\/d\/cdn\/<\/code><\/p>\n<p>It has been previously managed by Senior Lead Designer <a href=\"https:\/\/buweb.slack.com\/team\/U2AMQE7SQ\">Michael Jordan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cdn\/fonts\/\" class=\"button-secondary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BU CDN<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>The following aspects have dedicated spaces. <code>www-staging<\/code>, <code>sites-staging<\/code>, <code>test-staging<\/code>, <code>wpdocs<\/code> and <code>www.bu.edu<\/code> are on our <\/span><span>production server.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Staging<\/h2>\n<p>A staging environment is a replica of the production or live setting environment where internal project team members and client alike can review content, design, or development features before we go live on launch day. It ensures that updates work correctly and do not disrupt the existing live site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example<\/strong>: <code>www-staging.bu.edu\/met<\/code> or <code>sites-staging.bu.edu\/met<\/code> or <code>test-staging<\/code> are considered &#8216;Staging&#8217; Production sites.<\/p>\n<h4>Staging Site Requests<\/h4>\n<p>For a new site staging request, the creative director or project manager must <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/websites\/www\/wordpress\/how-to\/staging-sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contact IS&amp;T<\/a> by requesting a ticket.<\/p>\n<p>For staging an existing site, the lead designer, developer, or creative director should have the project manager confirm with <a href=\"mailto:jonpb@bu.edu\">Jon Brousseau<\/a>, a content manager, and the client before submitting the request.<\/p>\n<h4>Types of Staging<\/h4>\n<p><code>www-staging<\/code> is regulated to content editing and redesigns.<\/p>\n<p><code>sites-staging<\/code> is meant for private, internal BU websites.<\/p>\n<p><code>test-staging<\/code> is for migration or new infrastructural testing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/websites\/www\/wordpress\/how-to\/staging-sites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"button-secondary\">Request a Staging Site<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Documentation Websites<\/h2>\n<div class=\" bu-callout alignright\"><\/p>\n<h4>Remember to Tango<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tango.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tango<\/a> is a free Chrome extension that auto-generates step-by-step documentation, saving time on theme docs, training, and user flow evaluations.<\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<p>For every project and its deliverables, lead designers or developers must include well-written documentation that explains how to best utilize a product\u2019s features for WordPress users of all experience levels. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/wpdocs.bu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">default Responsive Framework Documentation site<\/a> is a starting point. It&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/marcom-team\/departments\/interactive-design\/i-d-role-specific-info\/designers-developers\/common-processes-for-designers-developers\/\">cloned<\/a> for project themes to be applied to \u2014 with content expanded upon for any unique features. Its structure follows a beginner-friendly format of baseline demos, how-to guides, content advisories, and even a glossary and tooltips explaining common WordPress terminology for a beginner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong> <code>wpdocs.bu.edu\/cds<\/code> is considered an unlisted Production site.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wpdocs.bu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"button-secondary\">Starter Documentation Site<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wpdocs.bu.edu\/wp-admin\/network\/sites.php?page=bu-clone-site\" class=\"button-secondary\">wpdocs Clone Tool<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wpdocs.bu.edu\/wp-admin\/network\/sites.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"button-secondary\">All Documentation Sites<\/a><br \/>\n<small><em>(WordPress Login Required)<\/em><\/small><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Live Setting<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The live setting is where a staging site moves to on launch day.
