Photojournalist Photo Processing

  1. After images have been shot and information has been collected for captions, images are transferred to the photographer’s laptop or desktop in the corresponding month’s folder.
  2. The collection is pulled into PhotoMechanic and renamed using the SLUG 24-1324-CSVIP-001, 24-1324-CSVIP-002, 24-1324-CSVIP-003, for example.
  3. Images are then edited from this collection, and images for final edit are tagged using the photographer’s preferences.
  4. Tagged images are then captioned using a pre-set IPTC, changing the caption and location.
  5. Edited-down collection is brought into LightRoom and edited from there, then exported at 300dpi into a new folder within the initial folder. This new folder should be labeled “-jpg”
  6. The entire folder is copied into MC – Photo – Photo_Production – _01_Photo_Drop
  7. JPEGed images are moved into Cumulus/DAM system, then batch edited to ensure they are starred in some manner, and labeled for “Editorial” use.
  8. Photographer then returns to the Editorial Scheduled Photo Request in Trello, finds the corresponding assignment, and leaves a comment with the number of the assignment and tagging “@card” to alert the production team that the images are ready for use in Cumulus.
