I.D. Remote Work Guidelines

Review Slack best practices to minimize noise and understand channel purposes.

  • Participate in Monday Morning Minutes. Utilize the bookmarked workflow in #id-morning-minutes on your first workday of the week. Aim to get responses in before 10am.
  • If low on tasks, notify your manager and #ask-a-pm. For small tasks, check #id-tiny-tasks.
  • Check in daily with your manager, both ad-hoc and with an end-of-day summary.
  • Track time daily with detailed descriptions.
  • Use #attendance for sick days, vacations, and absences.
  • Working hours are 9-5 with a 12-1 lunch break; communicate any schedule changes.
  • Ensure any recurring appointments are known, with time made up or submitted for leave.
  • Refer to the Communication Channels table for proper platform use.

VPN

When working remotely, you’ll need the university’s VPN for SFTP and Server Access—check the VPN info on Techweb to set up and test it in advance.

Ensure you have essential equipment[charger, adapters, mouse, etc.] to work remotely, and for any hardware concerns, contact I.D. Creative Director Jon Brousseau.
