For most projects: an Interactive Design folder for Google Drive will be used to organize project information.
Dropbox
Use the Marketing Design Dropbox when an Interactive Design project is a collaboration with Marketing Design, so that assets can be shared.
Shared File Server
To connect, ⌘+K on macOS, copy/paste in the following Location:
smb://nas1.bu.edu/MC
To access the file server, you’ll need to set up the BU VPN on your home computer.
- You can make shortcuts (aliases) on your desktop by holding the command + option while dragging a folder to your desktop.
- You can also simply drag folder into your Finder’s “Favorites” list to create a shortcut there.
Common Directories
Groups:
- CRS
New Media/, here you’ll find:- Helpful files, like Software (_software), Photoshop Add-ons & Textures.
- Software licenses are in the same folder in a readme file– else, ask Jon.
- Fonts, Icons, and Photos
- A mashup of personal folders and projects-related files.
- Editorial
- Where editorial[publications like Research, Bostonia, and BU Today] will typically store their assets, and where the Photo Drop is located.
- Projects
- For Sharing Project files
- Individual project folders typically consist of, account management files (billing, SOW, etc.), and assests like photos, text files, InDesign and Photoshop files, etc.
Home: A folder just for you. Be mindful of file sizes.
Shared: For sharing with other offices—another mashup of project-related files.
