Janulewicz Llyod, MPH, D.Sc.<\/h2>\n<h3>Principal Investigator<\/h3>\n<p><span>Dr. Patricia Janulewicz Lloyd is an <\/span>Associate Professor at Boston University School of Public Health. She is an <span>environmental health expert and environmental epidemiologist with experience working with Gulf War Veterans. Dr. Janulewicz combines her expertise to examine how environmental exposures impact the nervous system. Her work spans the life-course and examines prenatal, early postnatal, childhood, and adult exposures. Dr. Janulewicz&#8217;s ongoing projects include investigating the gene-environment interactions in multiple cohorts of Gulf War veterans in order to determine why some veterans became ill following in-theater exposures and others did not, examining the link between the microbiome and veterans&#8217; health, and more!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/nephtc\/files\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-18-at-12.00.24\u202fPM-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9244 size-thumbnail\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Lindsay Kastner, MPH<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>Research Assistant at Boston University School of Public Health<\/h3>\n<p><span>Lindsay Kastner (she\/her) is a Program Assistant and Research Assistant at the Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH). Lindsay received a B.A. in Environmental Politics and Policy from Colorado State University and her Master of Public Health in Environmental Health from BUSPH. Lindsay&#8217;s experience ranges from policy and advocacy work to environmental research during her time in undergraduate and graduate school. Dr. Krengel completed her doctoral training at the State University of New York at Albany. She did her predoctoral and postdoctoral training in adult neuropsychology at the VA Boston Healthcare System. She has been completing neuropsychological assessment batteries at BMC since the early 1990s. <\/span><span class=\"read-more__more\" hidden=\"\">include the cognitive assessment of individuals with movement disorders, neurotoxicant exposures, traumatic brain injury, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, seizures, and early stages of dementia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/legacystudy\/files\/2022\/12\/Toomey_Rosemary-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-317\" \/>Rosemary Toomey, Ph.D.<\/h3>\n<h4>Co-investigator<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Scientific Contribution:\u00a0<\/strong>Neurotoxicology and 1990-91 Gulf War Veterans&#8217; Children<\/p>\n<p><span>Dr. Toomey has been involved in research on neuropsychological functioning since her doctoral dissertation in 1992. While her research initially focused on neuropsychological functioning in schizophrenia spectrum disorders, she expanded her research to include neuropsychological effects of military deployment, PTSD, addiction disorders, and Gulf War Illness. She also designed and launched the study\u2019s website to enhance participant engagement and information accessibility.
