Workshop on L3 Development After the Initial State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are pleased to announce that the Virtual Workshop on L3 Development After the Initial State (L3-AIS 2021) will be held on Friday, October 1<sup>st<\/sup> and Saturday, October 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, 2021.\u00a0 This event is organized by Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and University of Applied Sciences Burgenland.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To date, the field of L3 acquisition research has had a heavy focus on the initial state of the L3 grammar.\u00a0 While this initial state research is critical to understanding L3 acquisition as a whole, in order for an explanatory understanding of language acquisition in the multilingual mind, the field needs to expand its scope beyond this<\/span> area of focus<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0This workshop aims to bring together L3 acquisition and multilingualism researchers in order to discuss the state of the field and bring new ideas related to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the development of post-initial L3 knowledge, and the relationship among languages in the multilingual mind<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are excited to announce that this event will take place in an online format.\u00a0 This format promotes maximum participation and accessibility to participants and guests worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This workshop will consist of two categories of paper presentations and discussion: invited speakers in the L3 field and refereed student papers.\u00a0 The purpose of these presentations is to promote constructive discussion and exchange of ideas among researchers in a diverse array of fields related to multilingualism.\u00a0 Selected papers will be published. \u00a0More information on publication to come.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Call for STUDENT Papers:<\/h3>\n<p>As noted above, paper presentations at this event will consist of invited speakers as well as refereed student papers. \u00a0The call for student papers can be found\u00a0be found <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/l3developmentworkshop\/call-for-papers\/\">here<\/a>. \u00a0Abstract submissions are due on April 1<sup>st<\/sup>, 2020.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Important
