Congrats Nirali for passing PhD comprehensive examination!

Congratulations Nirali Shah for becoming a PhD candidate and passing the 8 months long comprehensive exam process! Nirali will continue her research at the Movement lab looking into the effect of Mindfulness and Exercise on participants with Knee Osteoarthritis. Congrats Nirali!
New Publication on interrelation between factors related to physical activity in inactive adults with knee pain
Our new paper published in the Disability and Rehabilitation Journal is a qualitative study on interrelations of and sex differences between factors related to physical activity in inactive adults with knee pain. Read more here!
COVID-19 vaccinations!
We are excited to announce that all patient-facing researchers in our group have been fully vaccinated! However, we continue to follow the same rigorous safety protocols as before including use of PPE, sanitization, de-densification, daily symptom monitoring, etc.
New Publication on quantifying varus thrust in knee osteoarthritis using wearable inertial sensors
Our new paper in Clinical Biomechanics - use of a single inertial sensor on the thigh for assessing varus thrust during walking in people with knee osteoarthritis. Read more here!
Congratulations Nirali for PhD scholarship!
Nirali Shah, MPT is a 3rd year doctoral student in the Rehabilitation Sciences program. Nirali has been named Sargent College's Elizabeth Whitney Post Scholar for the current Academic year! This longstanding Sargent fund is devoted to the study of pain prevention and treatment, focusing on interventions that obviate the potential abuse of alcohol and prescription drugs. Congratulations Nirali!

Welcome Mary (Molly) Gheller! Molly has joined as a project manager and will be managing ongoing clinical trials and observational studies in our group and the Section of Rheumatology at BUSM.
Congratulations Dr. Costello for receiving an NIH F32 award!
Congratulation to our postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Kerry Costello for receiving an NIH NRSA Individual Postdoctoral F32 Fellowship award! Dr. Costello will use machine learning approaches to investigate the associations of gait and physical activity with development and worsening of knee osteoarthritis using a large epidemiological cohort.

Spring 2020 virtual celebration!
We got together safely and virtually to celebrate the end of another productive semester!
We had a long list of accomplishments to celebrate including Kaveh's graduation and acceptance into graduate school, Akshat's graduation and Senior Award, Nirali's first manuscript submission, Soyoung's Neurophotonics Traineeship, and Kerry's first NIH grant! Hoping we get back into the lab together soon!

Congratulations to our first year PhD student Soyoung Lee for being accepted into the Understanding the Brain: Neurophotonics National Science Foundation Research Traineeship Program! Soyoung will be training in mobile neuroimaging technologies to probe mechanisms underlying pain and abnormal movement in knee osteoarthritis.
