Remember that the next IRRN Brownbag will be next Wednesday October 23 from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Judaic Studies Library (147 Bay State Rd). Please RSVP to Mary Kate Long at longmk@bu.edu by Monday the 21st if you would like to attend (so we know how much pizza to order).
We will enjoy pizza from Otto’s and some lively discussion of 4 chapters of Talal Asad’s Formations of the Secular: Christianity, Islam, Modernity facilitated by Professor Gina Cogan from the Religion Department. The chapters are available as PDFs for download at https://sites.bu.edu/irrn/2013/
If you are reading, would like to read, or have read Asad before, please join us! It would be best for those in attendance to prepare a few questions or ideas about each chapter to bring along with you to the discussion. We’ll also leave some time at the end of our meeting to think about how to utilize our next rendezvous in November. Bring suggestions for further readings or discussion topics.

Our first meeting, on September 18, was a great success! Six enthusiastic participants enjoyed delicious pizza from Otto's and batted around ideas for how we can utilize our meetings. Looking forward to seeing you there next time!
First Meeting, 1-2pm Wednesday, Sept. 18
Join us for our first meeting of the 2013-2014 academic year. We will meet from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the Judaic Studies Library (147 Bay State Road) to introduce ourselves and our work, eat pizza, and brainstorm ideas for discussions, readings and other relevant activities. We'll look forward to meeting you there.
